Vol. 209 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Mayo River.

16.

Mr. Browne

asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider as a matter of urgency having the drainage of the Yellow River extended by a further mile upstream under the Moy drainage scheme, County Mayo, so as to alleviate excessive flooding on the holdings of the many small farmers in the Yellow river district.

The question of extending drainage works on the Yellow river beyond the scheduled termination point indicated in the Moy drainage scheme has been fully investigated. An extension would not be justified as the cost would be much too high in relation to the area of land which would benefit.
