Vol. 209 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Libraries.

65.

asked the Minister for Education if, following the introduction of his Department's scheme for basic reference libraries in national schools, he will carry out an investigation of the position with regard to reference libraries in secondary and vocational schools with a view to introducing a scheme to provide reference libraries where needed in these schools.

The question of the provision of reference libraries in secondary schools is being fully examined in my Department.

As far as vocational schools are concerned, reference libraries are a normal feature of such schools and all reasonable proposals by vocational education committees for the provision of suitable books in such libraries are readily sanctioned by me.
