Vol. 209 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Cottages.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government (1) when he proposes to give Kildare County Council the necessary permission for the building of the new cottages at Nurney; and (2) when the application for approval of the site was received in his Department.

The proposal of Kildare County Council for the acquisition of a housing site at Nurney was received in my Department on 12th August, 1963. Consideration of the proposal was delayed pending the receipt of additional information regarding water supply and sanitary services for the proposed houses. Revised proposals for the provision of sanitary services for the houses were received in my Department last month and I hope to be in a position to give a final decision in the matter in the near future.

asked the Minister for Local Government (1) when he proposes to give Kildare County Council the necessary permission for the building of the new cottages at Monasterevan; and (2) when the application for approval of the site was received in his Department.

It is assumed that the Deputy's question refers to the proposal of Kildare County Council for the acquisition of a housing site of almost 20 acres at Monasterevan.

This proposal was received in my Department on 14th of this month and is at present under examination. A decision in this matter will be given as quickly as possible.

asked the Minister for Local Government (1) when he proposes to give Kildare County Council the necessary permission for the building of the new cottages at Johnstown Bridge; and (2) when the application for approval of the site was received in his Department.

The question of the erection of a scheme of new cottages at Johnstown Bridge must await a decision on the proposal by Kildare County Council for the acquisition of the necessary land. A proposal for the acquisition of an area of 1¼ acres was received in my Department on 28th September, 1963. No information about water and sewerage services for the proposed houses was furnished and these matters are still the subject of correspondence with the council.
