Vol. 209 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Damages for Mental Distress.

23.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he intends to introduce proposals for legislation to continue after 17th August, 1964, the present provisions contained in section forty-nine of the Civil Liability Act, 1961, which enable damages to be awarded for the mental distress caused to dependants of a deceased person following a fatal injury.

I hope to bring proposals before the Government in regard to this matter in the near future.

Before the Dáil, I hope?

Presumably, and before the recess.
