Vol. 210 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Growth Targets.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the first annual report of the Footwear Adaptation Association refers to the existence of growth targets for the industry for the 1960s prepared by his Department; whether growth targets for other individual industries have been prepared by his Department; and, if so, if he will (a) give particulars of what they are, and (b) state why they have not been published heretofore.

My Department, in consultation with the other Departments concerned, is engaged in a series of discussions with major industries regarding the second programme growth targets for these industries. Discussions already held have tended to confirm the provisional projections on which the target for the industrial sector as a whole was based. The final figures for individual industries will be published when they have been agreed and, meanwhile, Part II of the second programme will indicate the provisional projections for twelve industrial groupings, each of which contain a number of individual industries.
