Vol. 210 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lisnamrock (Tipperary) Water Supply.

34.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that, owing to the delay in providing a water supply in the Lisnamrock area, County Tipperary, the building of the new national school in Lisnamrock has been very much held back; and that the parents of the area have had to withdraw their children from attendance at the old national school owing to the unhealthy and filthy condition of the building; and if he will investigate the situation with a view to having a water supply immediately installed so that the building of the new school may be completed with the least possible delay.

I am not so aware. With regard to the school, I would refer the Deputy to the reply of the Minister for Finance to his Question on the subject. The county council's proposals for the provision of a piped water supply for Lisnamrock have been fully approved by me for some time. It is understood that certain legal difficulties which have delayed commencement of the scheme are now almost resolved and that work should begin very shortly.
