Vol. 210 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tariff Reductions: Protection against Dumping.

18.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what steps are being taken to protect Irish industry from dumping from abroad in view of the danger of this arising from recent and pending tariff reductions.

I would refer the Deputy to the powers conferred by the Imposition of Duties Act, which enables minimum specific duties to be introduced, and also to the Bill introduced yesterday to amend the Control of Imports Acts, 1934-1963. The measures appropriate to deal with dumping vary with the products concerned.
