Vol. 210 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Knockcommon (Meath) School.

37.

asked the Minister for Education whether any provision has been made for the erection of a new school at Knockcommon, Beauparc, County Meath.

There are no proposals before my Department for the erection of a new school at Knockcommon, County Meath.

As the classroom accommodation in the present school is inadequate the Commissioners of Public Works have been asked for a report as to whether the school can be enlarged.

Would the Minister say when the Commissioners of Public Works were asked for that information?

Last August.

Does the Minister not consider that the Commissioners should have been able to provide the information in the interval since last August?

It is not the only school they have had to deal with. This year they have dealt with many more schools than in any other year.

In County Clare.

Does that mean that the children going to Knockcommon school must wait a considerable number of years until all the schools in the country have been completed?

Can the Minister give any estimate?

I have asked the Office of Public Works to give it priority.

I thank the Minister.
