Vol. 210 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Duties of Dispensary Doctors.

1.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that recently in a Dublin area, owing to the occurrence of a serious fire in her home during the night a pregnant woman was forced to jump from a first floor window; and that when this woman, who was the holder of a medical card, sent for medical aid to the local dispensary doctor following this occurrence she was refused medical attention; what the duties of a dispensary doctor to a medical card patient in such circumstances are; and, if it is not the duty of such doctor to attend, what action should be taken to get medical care in such an emergency.

I am not in a position to comment on the allegations made or to supply the information requested in the Deputy's question in the absence of more specific details regarding the incident referred to. If the Deputy furnishes me with the necessary identifying and other relevant particulars, I shall have inquiries made from the Dublin Health Authority, who are primarily responsible for the administration of the health services in Dublin.
