asked the Minister for Education if he will state in respect of the latest academic year for which such statistics are available the number of full-time students attending University College, Dublin, the residence of whose parents or guardians is (1) within thirty miles of (a) Dublin (b) Cork (c) Galway and (d) Limerick, (2) in the remainder of the State, (3) in Northern Ireland, (4) in Great Britain, and (5) in other foreign countries; and if he will give similar figures in respect of University College, Cork and University College, Galway.

asked the Minister for Education the total number of full-time students attending, in the academic years 1962-63 and 1963-64, at each of the constituent colleges of the National University of Ireland and Trinity College, Dublin; and how many of these are (a) resident within thirty miles of the college, (b) from the remainder of the State, (c) from Northern Ireland, (d) from England, Scotland and Wales, and (e) from other foreign countries.

The information requested by the Deputies is not available in respect of 1963-64. The particulars for 1962-63 take the form of a tabular statement which, with your permission, I propose to circulate with the Official Report. There are no statistics available in respect of students from Limerick.

With your permission a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 33 and 34 together. The statistics requested in relation to the years 1932, 1942 and 1952 are contained in a tabular statement which I propose to circulate with the Official Report.

I have asked the authorities of all the University Colleges to supply the statistics requested in relation to 1962-63 and 1963-64 and I will communicate the information to the Deputies in due course.

I understand that all Irish matriculated students who applied for admission to the Constituent Colleges of the National University of Ireland and who complied with the relevant College regulations were admitted to the faculties of their choice in 1963.
