Vol. 211 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Entitlement to Annual Holidays.

53.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if persons who have entered into a contract of service for an entire twelve months of the year, even when this contract is not in respect of whole-time employment, are entitled to annual holidays under existing legislation.

The entitlement to holidays with pay under the Holidays (Employees) Act, 1961 is conditional on the worker having worked in any employment year for the qualifying period specified in the Act, and the Act does not relate holiday entitlement to whole-time or part-time employment as such.
