Vol. 211 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Membership of EEC.

1.

asked the Taoiseach what are the circumstances he envisages would constitute a suitable atmosphere for a pursuance of Ireland's application for membership of the EEC.

I can see no national advantage in indulging in speculation on this matter.

Does the Taoiseach not consider that the House and the country should be given some idea as to how the negotiations are going and what basis there is for his repeated statement that we are entering the Common Market by 1970?

The House has been given all the information that is available.

With respect, the Taoiseach has given the House and the country no information whatsoever as to what is going on. Surely the industrial groups and the agricultural groups, who are vitally interested, have a right to some information? There is no information being given.
