Vol. 211 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wandering Animals.

56.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the serious damage being done to farmers' lands and crops by wandering animals belonging to itinerants and of the dangers these animals present to road users; and if he will take steps to have them controlled.

The Garda do what they can by prosecutions and otherwise to discourage persons from permitting animals to wander on the road. Trespass on private land is a civil matter. The Commission on Itinerancy considered the problems referred to and dealt with them in their report. The report is under consideration.
