Vol. 211 No. 8

Written Answers. - Vocational Education Costs.

72.

asked the Minister for Education (a) what arrangements are made for financial adjustments between local authorities in respect of the cost of education of vocational pupils living in one vocational education area, and attending school in another area, (b) whether any costings have been worked out by his Department for—(i) a full-time vocational pupil per annum, and (ii) a part-time vocational pupil per annum or per hour as a basis for such financial adjustment between local authorities, and (c) if such pupil costings have been made by his Department, the average annual cost per pupil of a full-time vocational pupil and of a part-time vocational pupil for the year 1960-61 or for such later year as may be available.

Any arrangements for financial adjustment in respect of the cost of education of vocational school pupils living in one vocational education area and attending school in another area are made on an ad hoc basis between themselves by the vocational education committees concerned. With regard to costings the Deputy is referred to my reply to his question on this subject which was answered on 13th December, 1962.
