Vol. 212 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Footwear Import Licences.

71.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if it is permissible for the holders of import licences for the import of leather footwear to sell such licences to persons who are not wholesalers; what enquiries he has made to investigate the prevalence or otherwise of such a practice; and the result of such investigations.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. There is no information available to me which would indicate that the practice referred to is being resorted to, but if the Deputy is in a position to furnish evidence of the existence of the practice, I shall have the matter investigated at once.
