Vol. 212 No. 4

Written Answers. - Supplementary Housing Grants.

79.

asked the Minister for Local Government if his attention has been drawn to a report which stated that the Department of Local Government informed Dublin Corporation that they have wide powers of interpretation of the maximum income at which a supplementary housing grant can be given by a local authority; and if widening of the powers of interpretation has been given to local authorities generally.

I have seen the report in question. Local authorities generally were notified by circular letter in September, 1962, that they could make reasonable allowances for family circumstances in assessing income for the purposes of supplementary grants.
