Vol. 212 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salaries of County and City Managers.

9.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present salary of the county or city manager of each local authority in the State.

The salary scale applicable to the office of County Manager throughout the local authority service and to the offices of Cork City Manager, Limerick City Manager and Waterford City Manager is £2,700, rising by annual increments of £82 and a final increment of £79 to £3,025 per annum. The salary scale applicable to the office of Dublin City and County Manager is £3,650, rising by annual increments of £112 and a final increment of £102 to £4,200.

In North Tipperary the council are thinking of dividing the county in two so that we shall have two county managers instead of one as at present. Will the Minister state if there would be the same salary for each manager? Is there any difference on a population or other basis?

No. There is just the difference I have given, that the salary scale of the Dublin City and County Manager differs from that which applies to all other managers throughout the country whether the manager operates on a split county basis or, as is sometimes the case, is in control of two counties.
