The Consumer Price Index (base August, 1947 = 100) rose by 28.1 per cent between mid-February, 1957, and mid-August, 1964, the latest date for which the data are available. The corresponding rise between mid-February, 1960, and mid-August, 1964, was 20.1 per cent.
