Vol. 212 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Health Act Benefits for CIE Pensioners.

11.

asked the Minister for Health if he will take steps to ensure that all members of CIE superannuated staff will be entitled to the benefits and provisions of the Health Acts.

Members of CIE superannuated staff who satisfy the statutory requirements for eligibility are equally entitled with other members of the community to the services provided under the Health Acts and there seems to be no good reason why these statutory requirements should be varied by way of special amending legislation in favour of the class of persons specified by the Deputy.

I might mention that most members of the class mentioned who were in the wages grades in CIE carry their right to institutional and specialist services throughout the period of their retirement.
