Vol. 212 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rosary House.

15.

asked the Minister for Health the date on which he received a proposal from the Dublin Health Authority to erect a permanent building to accommodate seventy-eight adults and their children to replace Rosary House at North Brunswick Street; and when he expects to give his decision.

16.

asked the Minister for Health if he has received a proposal from the Dublin Health Authority for the provision of a permanent building to replace Rosary House, North Brunswick Street; and, if so, when he expects to sanction the proposal.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 15 and 16 together.

In response to a letter sent by my Department to the Dublin Health Authority expressing concern at the dangerous condition of the premises referred to in the question and asking for proposals, that Authority replied on 13th August last. They submitted two alternative proposals—one involving the use of temporary buildings, some of which would have to be erected on the adjoining site of St. Brendan's Mental Hospital and the other which would involve the provision of permanent accommodation, for which an estimate of cost was being prepared but has not yet been furnished. These proposals are still under examination but I expect to be in a position to convey my decision to the Health Authority within the next few weeks.
