Vol. 212 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Re-establishment of Irish News Agency.

25.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether, with a view to presenting to the world a correct picture of Irish national and international thought and action, he will, in co-operation with the National Union of Journalists, re-establish the Irish News Agency.

The answer to the Deputy's question is in the negative as from my experience with the Irish News Agency established in 1950 it is in our circumstances one of the most expensive and least effective ways of achieving the purpose the Deputy seems to have in mind.
