asked the Minister for Finance what tender was accepted for specified work for the Owvane catchment area; what was the expenditure to 31st March, 1963; and what is the estimated final total of the cost of the work.

The amount of the tender accepted for specified work on the Owvane catchment drainage scheme was £35,911. In the course of the contract it was found necessary to carry out extensive bank protection work in addition to that provided for in the specification. The expenditure to 31st March, 1963 including extras on the contract and direct expenses was £45,494. It is estimated that the final cost of the scheme, including compensation payments etc., not covered by the contract, will be £53,000.
