Vol. 213 No. 6

Supplementary Estimates, 1964-65: Leave to Introduce.

Leave granted to introduce the following Supplementary Estimates for the service of the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1965, namely:—
Votes Nos.:—
30 (Primary Education),
31 (Secondary Education).
—(Minister for Education).

I understand the Government want these Supplementary Estimates considered before the Recess.

On Tuesday. It is a formal matter only.

We are prepared to accommodate the Government, but I hope I will be excused when I say that the practice of introducing Supplementary Estimates of over £3 millions a couple of days before we go into recess, informing us it is vital to have them passed or the machinery of Government will break down, is a practice to be deprecated. However, in the special circumstances, we are prepared to accommodate the Government.

Very good.
