Vol. 214 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Camping Sites for Itinerants.

27.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will ensure that in the areas where itinerant camps may be established the laws and bylaws relating to public disturbances, damage to public and private property and litter will be rigidly enforced.

The Garda Síochána will certainly do all they can to ensure that the establishment of campingsites for itinerants will not be a source of annoyance to local residents because of disturbances of the peace, damage to property and so on, and, in fact, a directive on these lines has already been issued to all members of the Force who have been told, not only to pay special attention to these matters but, also, to do what they can to encourage itinerants to avail themselves of all assistance that may be offered to them to integrate themselves in the community.
