Vol. 214 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Paid Holiday of Insurance Company Staff.

9.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what action he has taken regarding the complaint received by him that a British insurance society operating in this country has not granted holidays with pay to a large section of its staff.

Following investigation by my Department of the complaint to which the Deputy refers, I have referred the matter to the Chief State Solicitor for consideration of the appropriate legal proceedings.

Could the Minister say when it is hoped some action will be taken? The people concerned have now gone two years without holidays with pay and are now in a third year.

From the information available to me, I think it will be quite soon.

When action is taken, will the past two years be taken into consideration as well as future years?

I cannot say that.

Will the Minister bear it in mind when action is taken?
