Vol. 215 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Payments to Old Age Pensioners.

19.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will consider having social welfare payments to old age pensioners sent to them as is at present the practice with sickness benefit payments, in view of the fact that many old age pensioners are ill or infirm and have difficulty in fulfilling the conditions of the present system.

Any old age pensioner who is unable to attend personally at a post office may appoint another person to collect his pension for him. It is considered that this arrangement is adequate to meet the cases of pensioners who are ill or infirm or who find it difficult to attend at a post office.
