Vol. 215 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Child Welfare Services.

72.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that staff normally employed by the Dublin Health Authority on child welfare services are suspended from duty without compensation because of the operation of the oral polio vaccination scheme; and that the same staff are required from time to time without additional remuneration to perform in one day work normally performed in two or more days; and if he will have steps taken to ensure that such staff are engaged regularly on equitable terms in future.

Mr. O'Malley

The Deputy presumably refers to the eight female part-time attendants whose duty it is to distribute nutrients to persons who attend child welfare clinics. My specific approval is not required for the employment of part-time staff of this kind. The matter is solely one for the Dublin Health Authority.
