Vol. 215 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Injury Benefit for Irish Worker in Britain.

32.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware that the British Ministry of Pensions excluded from injury benefit an Irish worker on the ground that his normal place of residence is not Great Britain, where the worker in question has been working all his life and intends to go on working to pension age in Great Britain; and if he will take steps, possibly by means of a reciprocal agreement, to ensure that such a worker is fairly treated.

I am not aware of any reason why an Irish worker employed in Great Britain would be excluded from injury benefit there. If the Deputy will give me particulars of the case he has in mind I will have enquiries made in the matter.

I will give the particulars to the Minister.
