Vol. 216 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Investment in GEC Dundalk Factory.

39.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce (a) the amount of money invested by GEC in the Dundalk factory, and (b) what proportion of the State investment can be recouped.

The amount of capital invested in the Dundalk project by the General Electric Company of Ireland was substantially higher than the amount of the grant but I do not think it desirable that the precise investment figure should be disclosed.

As regards the second part of the Deputy's question, I understand that An Foras Tionscal have not yet decided what action will be taken as regards recoupment.

When may we expect to hear this?

I do not think it is the type of thing the Deputy can expect to hear without seeking information again.

When does the Minister think we should seek the information?

I cannot say that.
