Vol. 216 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salaries of Social Welfare Local Agents.

21.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will now grant unestablished local agents of his Department the eighteen per cent salary increase offered to them some time ago.

Claims for pay increases on behalf of local agents of my Department fall to be dealt with under the scheme of Conciliation and Arbitration for the Civil Service. A claim for an increase in pay for unestablished local agents was discussed at a meeting of the Departmental Council in my Department on 25th March when at the request of the saff side disagreement was recorded. Under the scheme of Conciliation and Arbitration, the staff side have the right where disagreement has been recorded on a claim to take it to Arbitration.

I should add that under the Conciliation and Arbitration agreement proceedings of Departmental Council are confidential.
