Vol. 216 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sewerage Schemes.

48.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there are any plans before his Department for the provision of a sewerage scheme at Oranmore, County Galway; if so, when the plans will be approved; and when work on the scheme is likely to commence.

The position is as set out in my reply of 18th May. I understand that a preliminary report on the proposed scheme will be presented to the Galway County Council at their June meeting.

49.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the urgent need for the installation of a sewerage system at Ballina Quay, County Mayo; and what steps he proposes to take to meet the situation.

I have already approved in principle of Mayo County Council's proposals for a sewerage scheme for Ballina Quay. I understand that contract documents will be submitted for approval to my Department shortly.

50.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the urgent need for the extension of Foxford, County Mayo sewerage system to Station Road and to Belass so as to include all the tenants resident in those areas, while the contractors are at work on the Foxford scheme; and if he will arrange that this be done.

I understand that most of the houses on Station Road are already served by septic tanks. In March last I approved in principle a proposal involving an extension of the sewer to drain lands at Belass.
