Vol. 216 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Association with EFTA.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if in the light of the recent EFTA meeting, the Government have further considered the possibility of this country being associated with EFTA; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I do not consider that the outcome of the recent meeting of the European Free Trade Association in Vienna calls for any modification of the Government's attitude towards EFTA as outlined in my statement to the Dáil on the 13th May. The Government will, of course, continue to keep in touch with developments in EFTA and, in particular, any developments in relations between EFTA and the EEC.
