Vol. 216 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Report on Flour Milling Industry.

36.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has as yet received the report of the survey group on the flour milling industry; and if he can state when it is likely to be made available to members.

I have received the report of the survey team on the flour milling industry. It is at present being printed and will be available shortly.

37.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will make a statement regarding the two large milling firms using partial automation who failed to co-operate with his survey team in their investigation of the provender industry; and if he is satisfied that the report has not thereby been rendered substantially less valuable.

I do not think there is anything I can add to the comment made by the survey team.

While the survey team's task was rendered more difficult by the lack of co-operation by certain firms, I am satisfied that their report is a very good and useful one.

Were the firms which were not co-operative the larger or smaller ones?
