Vol. 216 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Attendance at Nursing Conference.

57.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that nurses attending the International Nurses' Congress at Frankfurt, Germany, have had to forfeit days' leave for the days spent there owing to the refusal of the Dublin Health Authority to grant them leave; and if, in view of the fact that attendance there could be looked upon as of considerable importance in their work, he will ask the Authority to reconsider the matter.

Mr. O'Malley

Any question of the grant of special facilities to nurses or other officers for attendance at a congress is a matter for consideration, in the first instance, by the employing health authority. I am informed that the Dublin Health Authority did not receive any applications from their nursing staff in connection with the Frankfurt Congress.
