Vol. 216 No. 7

Local Government Provisional Order Confirmation Bill, 1965 [Seanad]: Report Stage.

I move:

"That the Bill be received for final consideration."

Are we on Report Stage?

On Report Stage.

I have two amendments on Report Stage.

They are not in order.

I should like to point out that one of the objections raised——

The only thing that may be discussed on Report Stage is the report of the Committee proceedings. There is nothing on the report of the Committee dealing with the subject matter of the Deputy's amendments.

The main objection raised by every Deputy here was that it took 6½ years for the Department of Local Government to decide on the extension——

I cannot allow the Deputy to reopen that matter on this stage.

Even at this stage, could we get any guarantee from the Minister——

It does not arise relevantly on this stage.

On this stage I wish to point out to the Minister that the manner in which the Bill was put through the Seanad in the first instance——

The Deputy is still far away from what is in order on this stage. Little may be discussed when there are no amendments for consideration.

I am challenging a division.

I am putting the question "That the Bill be received for final consideration."

One moment. I said on Report Stage that I am objecting to the final consideration of this Bill.

I am putting the Report Stage to the House.

Question put: "That the Bill be received for final consideration".
