Vol. 216 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Louth Estates.

30.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is expected that the Ballynagassan estate, Annagassan, County Louth will be divided.

Certain dealings, of a confidential nature are pending between the Land Commission and the owners of this property but until these have concluded the question of making allotments on the estate does not arise.

31.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is expected that the Smyth estate, Mellifont, County Louth will be divided.

Proceedings are in progress for acquisition of this 800 acre estate but the property has not yet been taken over by the Land Commission. It is still too early to indicate when allotment will be feasible but there will be no avoidable delay after possession has been obtained. The Deputy will no doubt appreciate that formulation of resale proposals for the substantial acreage involved will necessarily take some time.
