Vol. 217 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Economic Projection.

11.

asked the Minister for Finance whether the projection for the economy for 1965 contained in his Department's Report on the Second Economic Programme requires revision in the light of developments since the projections were prepared.

The Second Programme made it clear that changes in the technical, economic or other fields may from time to time necessitate modifications of the Programme. The projections made in connection with the annual review of the programme similarly require constant review, but frequent publication of different estimates might be more confusing than useful. The chief changes in the situation will be kept under careful review by the Government so that necessary action can be taken in good time, and information about such action—and the reasons for it—made available to the Dáil and the public.
