Vol. 217 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of River Boyne.

28.

asked the Minister for Finance when the drainage of the Boyne river and its tributaries will be undertaken as this river has been the cause of constant flooding with the result that land project work is being held up in the area; and when it is hoped that work will commence as many local landowners are anxious to improve their land, and to have the necessary work undertaken without delay.

As already announced it is hoped that the scheme will be ready in 1967. Every effort is being made to achieve that but as the project is a very big one many difficulties can arise and I would not like to make a definite promise at this stage.
