Vol. 217 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Rural Electrification.

4.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when it is likely that rural electrification will be extended to those areas not already connected (a) in Ballycroy (b) adjacent to Dooleeg west of Crosmolina and (c) in Rossport-Carrateigue, County Mayo.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that rural electrification was initially extended to the Ballycroy rural area in September, 1964 and that since then there has been no great volume of applications for connection. Post-development work is not planned to commence in the area for at least another two years.

The other two districts referred to in the question form part of the Board's Glenamoy rural area which was initially developed in 1958. I am informed by the Board that the area is scheduled for recanvassing about August next.
