Vol. 217 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reduction of Imports.

23.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether in view of the deteriorating trade balance he will now consider the introduction of measures calculated to reduce imports, particularly those of a luxury nature or those from countries with whom we have had poor and unbalanced trade.

I would refer the Deputy to the statement which the Minister for Finance made in the Dáil on 29th June, 1965, in reply to a question by Deputy Cosgrave about the imbalance in our external payments.
