Vol. 217 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Issue of Grants.

111.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Education if he will list the bodies in the State under the aegis of his Department which are entitled to issue grants direct, stating the type of grant in each case.

Bodies associated with my Department which are entitled to make direct grants, mainly by way of scholarships, are: the universities and university colleges; the vocational education committees; the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies; the Royal Irish Academy; and the Royal Irish Academy of Music.

Bord na Leabhar Gaeilge and the Irish Manuscripts Commission, also on my Department's Vote, are entitled, in the case of the former, to make direct grants to publishers in respect of certain published works and in the case of the latter to make payments through the Department to editors, printers and others in respect of work carried out for it by these.
