asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what machinery is available for the enforcement of Part VI of the Shops (Conditions of Employment) Act, 1938 to ensure that the sanitation and suitability of hairdressing premises are up to a proper standard.

The provision of Part VI of the Shops (Conditions of Employment) Act, 1938, which imposes an obligation on employers to make certain arrangements for the health and comfort of members of staffs of shops, including hairdressing premises, are enforced by the local sanitary authority.
