Vol. 217 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Density of Dwellings.

9.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he now considers it desirable that corporation flats should be built to a density of 160 habitable rooms per acre and cottages to the over-all density of ten to the acre.

With regard to building densities for flats I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question of 17th February last on the subject. The existing standards for the Corporation's houses permit densities up to 16 and 12 houses to the acre in central and suburban areas respectively. I do not propose to make any change in housing standards pending completion of the general review being carried out by my Department at present.
