Vol. 217 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Whiskey Exports to US.

2.

asked the Taoiseach the value of Irish whiskey exported from the Republic of Ireland to the United States in 1963 and in 1964.

Domestic exports of whiskey to the United States of America were valued at £105,140 in 1963 and at £114,957 in 1964.

I had difficulty in hearing the Parliamentary Secretary but I understood him to say £114,000 worth of whiskey was exported to the USA in 1964. I should like to say to the Parliamentary Secretary that the American Ambassador was right——

That is not a question.

——when he said we were neglecting the whiskey trade. The Scots sold £46 million worth of whisky to the Americans last year. We are asleep.
