Vol. 217 No. 8

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - University Students.

46.

asked the Minister for Education how many students attended all the universities in Ireland during the last university year; and if any students had to be refused admission through lack of accommodation.

The number of whole-time students in attendance at the constituent colleges of the National University of Ireland and Trinity College, Dublin during the 1964-65 academic year was 13,240.

No qualified Irish national was refused admission. Some such candidates, however, could not be admitted to the Faculties of their first choice in University College, Dublin and Trinity College owing to a shortage of accommodation in the departments concerned.
