Vol. 218 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Arbitration.

47.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of claims for Civil Service salary increases and related matters which were submitted for conciliation and arbitration in each of the past three years, and in the case of each such claim (a) the grade of civil servant to which the claim applied, (b) the date the claim was submitted, (c) where the claim was settled, the date of settlement, and (d) where the claim has not yet been settled, the date when it is expected to be dealt with; and the cause of the considerable delay in the hearing of certain claims by the arbitration procedure.

As I indicated in my reply to a somewhat similar question on 20th May, 1965 the assembling of the information requested would take in my view a disproportionate amount of time and effort. In view of the reasonable notice which I have had of this question, I have directed that the particulars sought be assembled. They are at present being compiled, and I would ask the Deputy to repeat his question in, say, a week's time.
