Vol. 218 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turkey Market.

146.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he has secured a market for turkeys for the coming season; and what price the producer can expect for them.

The home and export markets will be available this season, as hitherto, for the disposal of turkeys. Prices will depend on actual market conditions, which can of course be influenced by varying factors, principally supply and demand. So far as supply is concerned the indications are that our numbers will not be greater than last year and there is no reason to expect that demand will be less.

Has the Minister any comments to make on his own birds?

I have no turkeys.

The Minister has got out of turkeys? They were not paying last year?

I was never in them. The Deputy might like to send me one for Christmas.

That might be corruption.
