Vol. 218 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Potato Storage Grants.

152.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will make a statement in regard to special grants for houses to store potatoes; if such a proposal is under consideration; and when it is proposed to provide such grants to potato growers who have made many requests in this respect.

Farm Buildings Scheme grants are available for houses to store produce, including potatoes, on farms. The question of special grants for seed potato stores on farms is under consideration.

Does the Minister hope to be able to come to a decision in regard to that crop very soon?

As the Deputy knows full well, there are others concerned in this matter as well as myself.

I presume the Minister is hinting at the Minister for Finance?

We have collective responsibility.
