Vol. 218 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fertiliser Subsidies.

157.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will take steps to provide a subsidy on nitrogenous fertilisers; if he considers that the subsidies on phosphate, potash, and lime are sufficient; and if he will consider this matter for the coming Spring and provide generous assistance in this regard.

I do not propose to introduce a subsidy on nitrogenous fertilisers. The present rates of subsidy on phosphate, potash and lime are considered to be reasonable and no increase is proposed.
