Vol. 218 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Footwear Vouchers.

82.

Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will consider sanctioning the issue of vouchers for official footwear for children in the Cork Health Authority area at a date earlier than the 1st November in future seasons in order to obviate hardship caused by the issue of such vouchers as from 1st November.

The Public Assistance Footwear Scheme has commenced on the 1st November for a number of years and none of the local assistance authorities has expressed the view that this has caused hardship. I do not propose to alter the date of commencement.
